Eno Junglenest Hammock Review: Real Camping Test 2026

()

We have a rigorous test of everything we suggest. Shopping through our links will help us continue our efforts. The ENO Junglenest Hammock is an excellent hammock for those who want to keep the creepy crawlies away and keep their hammock setup simple.

I’ve been using the Junglenest hammock with Helios Straps over the course of a year. Learn more about the Eagles Nest Outfitters Junglenest Hammock in this review from Swinging Camping.

Introduction

There have been 7 years since the last time I reviewed the Eno Junglenest hammock, and a number of things have changed. When I first wrote about the jungle nest hammock, I was comparing it with other basic hammocks. Nowadays, Jungle Hammock military is firmly in the top tier of camping hammocks. This includes my top cottage sellers like Warbonnet, Dutchware, and DreamHammock. Yes, I was initially sceptical; however, when I removed the hammock from its box, I realized there was something wrong — it was light!

From the beginning to the end, the Eno Junglenest Hammock has pleasantly surprised and thrilled me. It’s just the right size to provide maximum comfort, and it’s lightweight and portable for serious hammock camping, and has the proper amount of features that will be functional without requiring unnecessary, yet interesting gadgets.

Bottom Line - Eagles Nest Outfitters JungleNest Hammock Review

For those who are awed by their ENO Junglenest hammock and want to explore what ENO has to offer in terms of the ultimate hammock with nets, the Junglenest can be an extremely comfortable and well-equipped camping hammock that has us feeling happy with the experience.

The Eno Eagles Nest Outfitters Junglenest Hammock didn’t impress us, but everything is mid-range; however, it does add up to a multi-faceted design that may attract anyone. The spreader bar included pockets, a bug net that can be stored, and all are appealing to look at, as well as the quality of the fabric and components is excellent, even though there’s nothing that stands out in comparison to others on our best choices for hammocks for Camping.

We had a fantastic night’s rest in the ENO JungleLink hammock system. This proves that smaller dimensions of a jungle nest hammock aren’t always correlated to a bad night’s sleep. The fixed ridgeline can help greatly here; five of our 5’9” test subjects found it to be comfortable. This is something we discovered was true when testing outside in the forest.

My Impressions - Junglenest Hammock Review Experience

I had a fantastic night’s sleep in this Eno Junglenest hammock, which astonished me. This is due to the precise dimensions of the body of the hammock, as well as the hang angle that is fixed by the structurally integrated ridgeline. There was no calf ridge; that is, there was no hyperextension underneath my knees. My ankles were not stuck. My shoulders were not barreled. To add to that, the bug net was clear of my face without the necessity for side pull-outs.

The netting is also eerily similar to a Warbonnet-style foot box, though the designs are different. The way that the netting has been designed gives me the ideal space for my feet to be angled to ensure that pressure on my calf and ankle strain is minimized.

Really, the designers and engineers at ENO merit some praise for their work.

For a camper who is light in weight, like I am, even tiny details caught my attention. For instance, the zipper pulls – the pulls made of metal were removed and replaced by simple string loops. A toggle, along with the Whoopie Sling pair, comes with an easy pull tab that allows for removal. It also doubles as a great drip line.

Comfort - Junglenest Hammock Review Performance

eno junglenest hammock

It was a mid-range when it comes to comfort, which is an advantage. Most camping hammocks we tried were comfortable, so we’re sure that the ENO Junglenest hammock will provide the best night’s sleep to the majority of people. The dimensions are smaller than for the majority of our hammocks, with 9.8×4.6 feet. The ridgeline that Eno Junglenest hammock setup has implemented in the 83% hammock length sweet spot, together with the spreader bar and soft fabrics, resulted in a more comfortable hammock than the smaller measurements suggest.

We can’t confirm whether different designs are more comfortable; however, we had a great time enjoying the jungle nest hammock while conducting tests. The nighttime comfort was very pleasant, too. We’re still unclear on why Eno Junglenest can’t make a 10-foot hammock. The most popular Doublenest can be found at 9.5 feet, which means at 9.8 feet, they’re clearly breaking out of the mold.

We’re glad to know that they didn’t simply put an insect net and ridgeline over the Doublenest; however, if they were to make a change from their formula that has proven successful, we’re wondering why they didn’t take it a step further to 10, or even 11 feet, especially since they’re not aiming at Ultralight customers.

Features - ENO JungleNest Hammock Setup & Design

eno junglenest hammock

We were delighted by the variety of features that the Eno Junglenest hammock offers. Its top bar for spreading isn’t exclusive to the Junglenest; however, it can be effective in creating internal volume. It’s not wide enough on either side to stop netting from entering the head region when you sleep on a diagonal.

The inside pockets are excellent, but there’s an extra one that’s ideal to hold a smartphone and a top pocket for other items. eno eagles nest outfitters junglenest hammock has an organizer with a ridgeline; however, it’s designed to be used for everyday use rather than backpacking, and would not be our top choice.

The absence of side pulls might not be that big of an issue, considering the spreader bar. Still, after a few hours of moving around in order to feel comfortable and noticing the netting getting somewhat close to being comfortable, we found ourselves longing to have them.

The bug net can be stored in a stashable bag. It’s an excellent feature, and we appreciate how good the zipper feels. However, there’s no storage space for the net, other than hammock bags, and it does not feel good. We would like to have seen a mesh pocket similar to the one on the other side.

Weight - ENO JungleNest Hammock Weight Analysis

eno junglenest hammock

In the middle of the pack at 19.3 for the hammock’s body and spreader bar that is included, the ENO Junglenest hammock is quite heavy for its tiny dimensions, but it’s not unreasonable. Some hammocks offer more space with less weight. When you consider that Junglenest is surprisingly comfortable and well-built, we don’t believe its weight will make it unsuitable for consideration.

Ease of Use - ENO JungleNest Hammock Setup

It is incredibly simple to set up. With two loops that can be attached to carabiners or ENO’s whoopie sling straps, hanging it is simple, and the ridgeline that is fixed makes it easy to set up each time. The spreader bar can be inserted into one side and is secured in a snap; there’s no fumbling around.

We would prefer that the spreader bar had a longer length; however, it scores the top score for user-friendliness.

Check what is included before buying. The JungleNest hammock has an integrated bug net, spreader bar, ridgeline and storage pockets, but suspension straps and a rainfly are usually purchased separately.

The hammock uses lightweight yet strong fabric, reinforced attachment points and quality zippers. It is suitable for regular camping, but sharp objects and rough surfaces should be avoided.

Buy from an authorized seller and review ENO’s current warranty terms. Keep your receipt, as the warranty may cover manufacturing defects but not normal wear, misuse or accidental damage.

The ENO JungleNest is best for backpacking, camping and relaxing outdoors in insect-prone areas. Add a rainfly, underquilt and suitable straps for wet or cold-weather trips.

Here are some more useful reviews

Helios Hammock Straps - ENO JungleLink Hammock System

Alongside the hammock, the ENO Junglenest hammock provided me with a set of their brand-new Helios straps. They’re a 1 in. wide webbing strap, which is linked to the Whoopie Sling, but the eye loop that is locked to the brummel is the point of connection with the hammock.

eno junglenest hammock

The adjustable loop is linked with the strap. This might seem odd at first, since many sellers have the eye locked on the strap. ENO’s setup is actually quite practical, as it places the adjustable part close to the hammock for better reach. The eye can be adjusted by sliding it through an eye loop in the strap.

Removable Bug Net

The most attractive feature in the JungleNest hammock to me was the built-in SkyWeave(tm) Lite Mesh bug net system. Although I am a fan of my DoubleNest hammock, I’m not a fan of carrying around a bug net for it within “buggy” climates. A bug net that is built-in (with an awesome zipper to boot! ) that doesn’t add any additional weight to the overall size is the best option.

The mosquito net of the JungleNest is easily removed and put in the sack that is hanging at the bottom of your hammock. However, I’ve personally refused to remove it. I’ve enjoyed many bug-free evenings within this hammock as well as the afternoons spent lounging.

Built-In Storage & Organization

As opposed to tents, typically, hammocks don’t contain much space to store gear inside. The Junglenest hammock has a tiny gear loft (I could store my Nalgene inside it) as well as a small side pocket that can be used to store an extra battery charger, as well as my phone during the night.

Setting Up and Tearing Down the ENO Junglenest

It is an extremely simple Eagles Nest Outfitters Junglenest hammock to put together. I generally take longer picking my trees before I set them up with the JungleNest. Since the bug net comes integrated into the system, it takes the entire step out of the setup procedure.

JungleNest Hammock Add-On Accessories

If you’re looking to get all-in with your Eno Junglenest hammock setup, then the JungleNest can be used with accessories for hammocks, such as an under-bed quilt and rain tarp. You can also purchase this JungleLink set straight from ENO, which includes the regular Helios straps and the DryFly rain cover.

  • It is easy to use bug nets, fully integrated and easily storage-friendly bug nets.
  • The DAC Spread bar creates an inside feeling of largeness.

  • The small loft for gears (I can keep the contents of my Nalgene inside it), as well as a small side pocket where I can put an extra battery charger, as well as a phone.

What I Don’t Love

  • The built-in ridgeline comes with tightening limits
  • Straps are sold separately

Recommendations

One of the trips on which I went to the Eno Junglenest Hammock was to one of my favourite remote trails within Southern Utah. The overlook of the canyon is the perfect spot for hammocks in a spot that’s almost unsuitable for tents. I was in the jungle nest in a hammock situated just a few feet from an incredible view. It was simply amazing.

As I said in my initial look at pitching, the Eagles Nest Outfitters Jungle Nest hammock requires a bit more experience than throw-and-go. A good sag enhances the spread and improves the space in the insect net. It also allows for a more symmetrical lay.

eno junglenest hammock

After a few nights of sleeping in the JungleNest, I can confirm that the stretch of the nylon is very low, probably due to the denier and ripstop. I did not notice the barreling issue or “memory” issues with the fabric.

One of the initial modifications I did to my Jungle Nest hammock was to alter the suspension. This is done in part to test different suspension systems and also to allow me to test and measure the hammock. It’s not a problem with the standard suspension system. When combined with the belt system, the JungleNest is ready to be hung.

Should You Buy the ENO Junglenest Hammock?

ENO is the most well-known brand in hammocks. Their ENO Junglenest Hammock is a great choice for anyone who already loves their current ENO Hammock and would like to stay with an ENO brand that they have come to know. The Jungle Hammock military isn’t the best or most appealing hammock by itself. Others are more lightweight and feature-rich or more comfortable.

It’s not an unwise choice; it’s just an uninspiring choice. There’s not a single thing about it that makes it an absolute must-buy or suitable for a certain kind of individual. Still, it’s more of a testimony to the quality of the other hammocks we offer, rather than as a deterrent.

What Other Hammocks Should You Consider?

Wise Owl Hammock Review: The Junglenest hammock provides a reasonable price, but for top-of-the-line, the Wise Owl Hammock beats it at nearly every turn. It’s a bigger, more equipped, cheaper, and more comfortable option, roughly the same weight. The Wise Owl is impossible to beat. Its quality isn’t at the level of ENO’s standard; however, we believe it’s sufficient for the majority of people. If you don’t like the spreader bar as well as the ENO brand, the Wise Owl is the better choice for those looking for a low-cost hammock.

Warbonnet Hammock Review: While the Warbonnet Hammock falls at the bottom of the pack for a lot of things, it is a king in the two factors that are crucial to backpacking hammocks: the weight and features. It saves 3.6 tons from the Junglenest, including a large and impressive gear pocket, excellent side pulls, and a similarly comfortable experience, making the Blackbird our top choice for those who are looking to make the investment in hammocking. It’s an expense, but it’s worthwhile for the quality of service offered by this.

FAQ About

Yes, ENO hammocks are worth it if you want a durable, highly portable, and comfortable hammock for casual lounging, yard use, or car camping. However, if you are looking for a technical hammock specifically for overnight backpacking and sleeping, they are often considered overpriced and too short.

You'll probably still need a pad under you and most likely find the Eno too short to get a comfy lay overnight. I lived out of my eno double-nest for 7 months in New Zealand. Used a SELK bag which made life so much easier and comfortable. Eno's bug net, and a sea-to-summit tarp/poncho.

400 lbs.

All SingleNest and DoubleNest Hammocks are 9′6" length to the fabric ends and will safely hold 400 lbs. The main difference is in the width of each hammock and the weight of each product.

Standard ENO hammocks (such as the DoubleNest and SingleNest) are not waterproof. They are constructed from breathable nylon that is designed to keep you cool, meaning rainwater will pass directly through the material.

Yes, you can absolutely wash your ENO hammock. To keep the nylon fabric and stitching from wearing out, simply remove the carabiners, machine wash it on a delicate cycle with cold water and a mild detergent, and let it air dry completely.
