Hanging a Hammock with Rope: Easy Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1
You will need one of the nylon cords in your kit.
In your right hand, hold the knotted end while slinging or wrapping it around a tree, pole, post, or other object. With your left hand, grab the looped end of the rope and sling in the desired configuration.
For a secure hammock setup, it is essential to select a strong anchor point. Ensure that the tree or post is sturdy enough to support the hammock and the intended load.
Step 2
In order to make the loop more secure, pass the knotted end of the Go Anywhere cord through the center. Continually pull the knotted end toward you until it stops. Make sure the rope is tight to prevent slipping.
To have a comfortable hammock camping experience, you need a good knot and a good rope placement
Step 3
In order to hang the hanging hammock, carefully rotate the center point (where the cord passes through the loop) around the left side of the tree away from you, while pulling tightly on the knotted end.
It is immediately apparent why this step is so important. The cord is pulled tightly against itself when the rope is positioned around the side of the tree. Using this method, we create a knot-less ‘friction hitch’ that makes hanging your hammock a breeze.
If you are working with a slim pole or tree, you may need to wrap the rope around a second or third time to keep it from sliding at this point. Always check the rope tension before getting in. It’s easier to sleep comfortably in a hammock if you have proper suspension.
Step 4
You may have wondered why the cord for Go Anywhere has several knots.
You simply need to hook or clip the s-hook at the end of your hammock to any knot in the rope (except for the end knot, see below). Generally, cords are already knotted, but you may add a new knot wherever you need it.
A hammocks hammock can be adjusted this way, if you would like it to hang tighter, you simply add a knot closer to the tree, and vice versa if you would like it to hang looser.
Sag and height can be adjusted with the rope. You’ll need to check the hammock length before installation so you can pick the right anchor points distance.
Step 5
Follow the same procedure for the other side, relax, and have fun. ‘End knot’ at the end of the rope is the only knot you shouldn’t hook into.
Due to its location at the end of the rope, it’s the only knot that could untie during use. You can always add a second knot immediately above the end knot to get the perfect hang.
Step 6
As soon as your hammock is hung, it is time to have a go at using it. Sit comfortably in the hammock and adjust the tension according to your comfort level. If you wish to fully relax in the hammock, make sure that it is level and stable.
Always check the hammock’s weight limit before using it. It depends on the fabric, the suspension system, the hardware, and the anchor points.

FAQ About
You can make a classic woven rope hammock by using strong cotton or polypropylene rope, two pre-drilled wooden spreader bars, and a repeating macramé knot pattern
For hanging a hammock, use flat polyester webbing straps (at least 1-inch to 2-inch wide) or Amsteel (UHMWPE) synthetic rope rather than standard thin ropes or paracord.
To hang a hammock securely with rope, use a strong anchor knot like the Bowline Knot around the tree and a Becket Hitch to connect the hammock line
Rope hammocks are generally safe for adults when installed correctly, but they present specific risks regarding children, skin irritation, and proper maintenance compared to fabric alternatives.
Rope hammocks last anywhere from 1 to 20 years, depending heavily on the material used and how well you care for them.
You can hang a hammock without a carabiner by using strong webbing or rope tied directly to the tree and the hammock end loop with a secure knot like the Becket hitch or a sheet bend
Polyester rope and UHMWPE (Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene, such as AmSteel) are the best choices for hammock suspensions because they resist stretching, tolerate UV sunlight, and maintain their strength when wet.
